The most spectacular peak is that of Mount Pizzocolo, which dominates the entire Lake Garda, the Valvestino and even the Monte Rosa (click here for the map of the trails). On the surrounding hills it is possible to participate in the activities of the flight school: Big Sur.

If, on the other hand, you prefer a quieter activity, opt for a visit to the paper museum in the 'Valle delle Cartiere'(Valley of the papermills) or a horse ride in the nature of the hill town of Gaino.

Sport

For lovers of windsurfing and kitesurfing, the nearest spots are in Campione del Garda. Among all is: www.reunionkiteacademy.it.
Sailing courses are organized by www.canottierigarda.it and www.scuolavelacvtm.it.

Museums/events

Meanwhile, a visit must be made to the very famous Vittoriale at the neighboring town of Gardone Riviera, the ancient home of Gabriele D'Annunzio, now a museum and an amphitheater where world famous artists (www.anfiteatrodelvittoriale.it). perform. Not far away, we find the wonderful and colorful "André Heller" botanical garden, considered as the small Gardesan Eden.

For a day of shopping, we recommend the nearby Salò, always alive and packed with tourists. Along the main street you will find numerous clothing stores, typical products of the Garda area, bookshops and exclusive boutiques.
The brand-new Mu.Sa is also worth a visit (www.museodisalo.it), the city museum, which displays relics from the Fascist era and organizes temporary exhibitions of international importance.

For fans of vintage cars we recommend a visit to the Mille Miglia museum in Brescia, already considered a real institution.

Daytime excursions

If you want to enjoy one of the most beautiful sceneries of Garda, drive to Malcesine, a town on the Veronese shore of the lake, and buy a ticket for the rotating cable car that leads to the summit of Monte Baldo (www.funiviedelbaldo.it).
From here, there are numerous hiking trails of different levels of difficulty, but which will also allow you to dominate the Trentino side.

However, motorbike enthusiasts can travel the Gardesana, the scenic roads of Valvestino (where we recommend you visit the astronomic observatory) and go down into “valle del lago d’Idro” or drive through the canyons of the famous Forra road, which leads to one of the most beautiful villages of Garda: Tremosine.
A little over an hour's drive away you can visit Verona, famous for its Arena, but also for the most famous pair of lovers of literature: Romeo and Juliet. Verona can also be reached via a short and scenic ferry ride from Maderno to Torri del Benaco, and then drive to the destination. Here a tour of the historic center and of Corso Mazzini is a must, but also a relaxing walk along the riverside.

At another hour of travel from Verona you can easily get to Venice, a city to visit at least once in your lifetime. From the Calatrava bridge to the famous Piazza San Marco, lose yourself in the Venetian streets to better appreciate its timeless atmosphere.
Staying in Lombardy, however, you can visit the city of Mantua. Famous for Renaissance buildings such as the Palazzo Ducale or Palazzo Te, it is home to numerous museums and galleries. Surrounded by three artificial lakes, it can be admired right from the water, thanks to the many organized cruises.

For a day full of adrenaline, we recommend the Gardaland parkswww.gardaland.it, Movieland www.movieland.it  and Canevaworld www.canevapark.it just over an hour's drive away.

Fun and night life

Moreover, throughout the summer, numerous events are organized, including white nights in both Toscolano Maderno and Salò, but also firework shows, concerts, outdoor film screenings and markets where you can find typical products of Garda and beyond.

The splendid Torre San Marco is just a stone's throw away from Villa Bornico and includes a restaurant and piano bar, location for exclusive events, which during the summer also turns into an open-air disco. On one side the lake, on the other a historic building of rare beauty that attracts young people from all over Garda and beyond. It is possible to arrive by boat.

Less elegant, but equally pleasing is the Coco Beach, a disco on the banks of the Lido di Lonato where you can dance on barefoot sand or the Lake View of Moniga, both highly appreciated by the locals.

Where to eat

The Garda area offers an incredible food and wine variety that knows how to exploit the vast local productions of wine and olive oil.
In the restaurants of the locality you can taste very different dishes: from the Spiedo Bresciano (like grilled meat) to the most refined dish of pasta al pesce di lago (pasta & lake fish). A short drive from Villa Bornico you will find the homonymous oil mill or the exclusive restaurants "Riva Carne al Fuoco", the starred "Lido 84" and "Villa Fiordaliso".
For a dinner with a breathtaking panorama, drive to the fraction of Supiane to enjoy the fantastic offers of the "Nablus" restaurant and pizzeria or, higher up, in San Michele di Gardone Riviera the tavern with pizzeria "A Casa Mia Pieroli".

At Gardone Riviera, on the other hand, we recommend the famous "Wimmer" or the "Locanda agli Angeli". If you want to enjoy an innovative and ethnic style dinner, book a table at the "Sushi Brunati" in Salò. Also in Salò the fantastic "Locanda del Benaco" and the new "Cantina Santa Giustina".
